Art UK is an art education charity and is the online home for public art collections in the UK. The Art UK website contains over 300,000 works by over 50,000 artists including work from the University.
Last month, David Bell, the University’s Art Collection Curator, was invited to deliver a talk for Art UK about how the University's sculpture collection tells a story about changing trends in British public art. This was part of a series of online talks from Art UK called ‘Art Unlocked’. If you missed it,
Loughborough’s art collection contains landscape paintings, modernist sculptures, portraits, digital works, textiles, busts, prints, furniture and more.
Artists include well-known figures such as Bridget Riley, Lynn Chadwick, John Bratby and Edward Bawden; current and former students; and staff members from throughout the University’s history.
New works regularly enter the collection, including the winners of the annual Edward Sharp Prize – which celebrates outstanding works from the University’s Degree Show – and works commissioned by LU Arts and Radar.
