Who we are
The Disability and Inclusion Network (DIN) was established to give disabled staff at VR成人视频 a collective voice, a support community, and meaningful influence over university policy. We are a peer-led network run by members, for members, with the support of the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team.
DIN supports all staff across both Loughborough and London campuses. Our community includes colleagues with physical disabilities, hidden or invisible conditions, long-term health issues, neurodivergent identities, and those with caring responsibilities for a disabled person. We recognise that disability is diverse, as no two experiences are the same and we are committed to being inclusive of that variety in human experience of disability.
Our aims
- Champion disability awareness, inclusivity and a culture of respect across all parts of the University
- Provide peer support to all staff who have or are affected by physical and invisible disabilities
- Challenge barriers that arise in the workplace for disabled staff, and propose practical solutions
- Ensure both campuses are inclusive, safe and accessible environments for staff with physical or hidden disabilities
- Signpost members to internal University services and advocate for additional provision where gaps exist
- Work with the University to uphold its five commitments under the Disability Confident Employer scheme
- Represent disability issues and advocate for change through the EDI Board and relevant sub-committees
- Work with internal and external agencies to inform best practice for disability support at VR成人视频
Our 2026 strategy
Strengthening engagement, influence and inclusion for disabled staff across the University sets out four clear priorities. These were developed with input from our members and reflect what matters most to our community right now.
1. Awareness: Visibility and understanding of the network
Ensuring that all staff know DIN exists, what we do, and how to get involved including those who may not immediately identify with the word 'disability'. We will raise the profile of the network through events, communications and collaboration with other university teams.
2. Connection: Supportive, accessible community
Building a welcoming, low-barrier community online, in person and across both campuses, where all members feel genuinely supported. We are committed to making every meeting and event as accessible as possible.
3. Voice and influence: Members shape priorities
Actively consulting members so that the committee's work reflects real experiences, not assumptions. We run surveys, open meetings and listening sessions throughout the year, and we report back on what we hear.
4. Action and impact: Feedback translates into visible change
Ensuring that what members raise is tracked, reported back, and where possible acted upon, with transparency about what has and has not changed. We will publish a brief annual impact report to share progress with members.
